Lucas @ 5

Lucas, my last baby, you have turned five! It is hard to believe you have been with us that long.  I have a hard time thinking of you as not a baby. You still act pretty young, so I can fool myself awhile longer.  You let me call you “my baby”, but you tell me that you are not really a baby.  You are a little guy, but you are certainly a handful.

Right now, you are all about Lego’s.  You like Playmobil too, but Lego’s are winning the race. You mostly like to follow the instructions to build a set and then destroy it, so that you can rebuild it. You do a really great job at sets that are aimed at 8-12 year old kids.  At the beginning of our school year, you loved doing your school work and would beg for me to give you more.  That has wore off some now and you would much rather play.  This fall you will be official kindergarten age, so your real schooling begins then.   You know all the letters and can write them. You can add and count to 25. You haven’t shown an interest in reading yet.

lucas 5 b

You greet me with a giant hug every morning and cuddle with me every night.  All the hours in between you are a squirmy, loud, running, guy.  You scream and yell a lot, mostly at Milo.  He tries to control the games you two play and you screech at him.  You two get along pretty well though and are almost always together.  Of course, you get on each others’ nerves and have to be separated sometimes.

You twirl your hair all of the time. You create giant knots and we have to cut them out. You can’t stop yourself.  You don’t mess with my hair much anymore though.  You grab my face and ask, “How many kisses do you think I’ll give you?”  I have to pick a number and then you kiss all over my face that many times and say, “You were right!”  Whenever I leave to go somewhere and as soon as I come home, you are the first to find me and hug me.  I love that.

lucas 5 a

You say really cute things often.  A few recent examples are:  When you see someone with an infant, you sweetly whisper to me, “Do you wish that you had a little baby?”  I tell you no because I have three babies already.  You smile and look thoughtful about it.  One night while we were watching Jeopardy, you came over to me and asked sadly, ” How come the people answering the questions never tell Alex that they love him?”  I tried to explain it, but you still seemed confused.  You also thought it was weird that they never tell him, “Bye” or give him a hug when the show was over.  You ask a lot about volcanoes and earthquakes.  You seem to be wanting confirmation that we will not have those things happen here.  You keep saying, “They won’t happen here because we don’t have a hot spot here. It’s colder here, right?”  One day when I had to go to an appointment, you asked daddy, “When would I be done at my disappointment?”  It was so funny that I will forever call my appointments disappointments. They usually are.

lucas 5 c

You tell us that you are bored all of the time.  If you are eating. If you just stopped playing after an hour.  When we go to bed.  “I’m bored.”  You don’t like to go to bed because there is nothing to do. It is sooo boring!  You also tell me you’re tired in the middle of the day and then turn your body limp and moan a lot, dramatically, for a few minutes.  Good times.   Then you’re up running and jumping over furniture.  You are the most pickiest eater of the house.  You refuse all new foods and drinks.  You live off of various types of noodles, pizza, cheese, yogurt, milk, apples, grapes, potatoes, tortilla chips, and some secretly altered home-made baked goods.  Please start eating more foods soon, son.

I love you so much Bear. You are my favorite Lucas in the whole wide world. Happy 5th birthday.

Milo at 8

Now Milo you have turned eight! Eight seems so old for my little you. Your face has taking on an older kid look lately and you are growing taller bit by bit. You’ve lost quite a few teeth and are missing several currently.  Your hair is just as blonde and your eyes just as sparkly blue as always. There are a few more summer freckles scattered across your nose and cheeks though.  We are homeschooling again and you are in second grade. You like to learn new things and you like to listen to me read to you.  You still do not like to write and math you like to do in your head and never want to show your work. You avoid all writing. You have gotten into drawing this year. I think you draw every day. You are getting really good and I love receiving drawings from you. You started piano this school year and have already decided that you don’t really like it. “It’s not fun and too hard.”  I’m not sure if we’ll push you to continue or not.  You also are taking an Egyptian class through our co-op. You seem to like that.

milo 8 b

Minecraft is still your favorite activity and watching Stampy videos. You even requested a Stampy cake for your birthday this year.  You also still play with Legos, but you really like to build them more than play. Your room is like a Lego museum.  You decided you wanted a hamster for your birthday and that is all you asked for from us. So, you got your first hamster.  He bit you twice the first day and now you’re scared to hold him, but you still like him. You’ve been very responsible, so far, about taking care of him.

You like to run. Where ever we go, you will run.  You have a hard time sitting still. At meals, you climb all over your chair and rock it around and drive us nuts. You fall sometimes, but it doesn’t stop you. Every chair is a jungle gym. You climb our door frames and walk on the back of the couch.  You talk Lucas into having “battles” with you where you basically, just crash into each other and try to push each other off the living room rug.  You make up a lot of games for Lucas and you to play when ever we go anywhere too. Who can find the most red cars, yellow cars, or who can say a certain words the most. You change the rules of the games a lot and usually win.  Then, your brother screams and cries and you tell him that he won instead.

milo 8 a

You still run to me every morning and give me a big hug and want to cuddle for a little bit. You get very mad if I’m not available for the long cuddle or if I’m with Lucas.  At night, I lay with you in your bed and we snuggle and a read a chapter out of our current book.  We’ve been through quite a stack of chapter books this year.  Then, I leave and you read some of Harry Potter.  We set a timer for 40 minutes of reading.  I leave. The timer goes off and you add more minutes to it and end up staying up until 11:00 most nights. It’s a good thing school doesn’t make you wake up early.  You enjoy reading and love for Midnight to lay with you in bed.

milo 8 c

You still love maps and love to explore on google maps, collect real maps, and print maps of fictional places.  You like making list of how to do or make something also. You hide lots of secret writings in envelopes and take them to your room.

We’ve had a few medical issues come up this year.  You’ve developed eczema on your hands, had a real problem with frequent nose bleeds, and we found out that you have an osteochondroma  near your left knee.  As far as we know, none of these things are too serious, but still no fun to deal with each day. Hopefully, they will remain low threat.

I love you so much my little Moo.  I hope you always stay as sweet, smart, funny, cute, loving, caring, and creative as you are today.  Happy eighth birthday.

Keely at 11

Today at 1:20 p.m. you turn eleven years old. How did that happen? When you are sitting next to me I still see the little in you, but when I see you from a distance- I’m shocked at what a teenager you are becoming. I think by next year you will be as tall as me. You wear glasses all the time now. Your black framed ones are your favorite. You are letting your hair grow out too. It is light brown and wavy, but sun-bleached right now.  You mostly wear cotton shorts and graphic tees for comfort, but you like to dress-up a bit if we are going out or you are seeing your friends.  You love to put on lipstick, nail polish, sometimes eyeshadow and a temporary tatoo.  Slow down Keely.

Currently, you are in love with rap music and being a D.J. You make up your own songs all the time and research other artists online.  You love to get on iTunes and listen to the top songs of the week and research the song lyrics . You told us you want to be a teacher or a rap star when you grow up. You also think you want a child, but only a girl.

k 11 b

Fifth grade finally ended and you were so happy to be done with St. Pius. The experience was not what we had hoped for.  You made a few friends, but you really learned nothing.  You did not get the education, a feeling of community, or the help that we wanted you to.  So, after much pleading from you -we are going to try and homeschool you this year and see how we do.  I’ve never taught 6th grade before, so that should be interesting. I do hope we both are successful.  I don’t want it to strain our relationship. You do fine in most subjects, but you still really struggle in math and it gets you so upset. I think you could grasp most of the new  concepts if you would relax and believe in yourself a little bit.  We are all here to help you.

k 11 c

You now have two best friends, Isis and Danielle.  You write letters to Isis a lot and we arrange days on the weekends for you two to hang out.  You had a sleepover at Danielle’s house and went over there a few times too. For your birthday you decided to take them both out to dinner and out for ice cream. Then you all came back to our house to swim late in to the night. You all begged for it to be a sleepover and we decided to let you go for it.  You all stayed up until about 2:00 talking in your room until you finally crashed out.  You were so happy on that day.  All smiles and squeals and jumpiness. On your real birthday- we had a family party with lunch, cake, and presents. Then, you and I went to get your ears pierced! You were very excited.

This summer you have swam a lot, read a lot, and gotten a little closer with your brothers.  You enjoyed watching America’s Got Talent as much as possible. I somehow got you to read the old Babysitter’s Club books and you actually got into them!  You became very protective of all of our pets. It’s almost comical. You run to their rescue with lots of “OH! You poooooor baaaaby!” when they so much as meow.  You also decided that you love gum and tear through a whole pack in record time.

We took a number of small road trips (mostly to the mountains and you did great in the car as long as you had food, drinks, and loud music of your choosing. You have convinced us to let you ride your bike, scooter, and skateboard a little around the neighborhood alone too. You do that multiple times a day now.  I feel so nervous when you are out of sight and all alone.  We live so very close to an interstate ramp and I’m so fearful you could be snatched up and gone in a second with out anyone knowing it.  I’m trying to put my fears aside a little and give you some growing room though.  I wish we lived in a place where you could run around as much as you wanted.  We still are considering moving somewhere more rural in the future.

k 11 d

Keely, you love to hear and see anything with drama.  If there isn’t really drama there, you will even invent it. You think every new car on our street is a criminal. Any person walking down the sidewalk is up to no good.  You love when family tells us a story of something “exciting” that has happened.  You are wide-eyed and full of questions.  However, if anything actually happens to us, you completely freak out and are a stressed out mess.  You just like the fun of using your imagination I think.

Keely, you don’t know how smart, funny, creative, and beautiful you really are.  We tell you all the time, but you still don’t really believe us. I hope you can soon see how special you are.  You have so many unique gifts and you are so loved. Happy 11th birthday baby.

Keely at 12

Keely, you are inching so close to the teenage years.  You want to be an official teenager badly.  I wish you would enjoy being a child a little more, a little longer.   You are 5 foot, 2 already and will probably be as tall as me by the end of this year. You have always been a tall and thin girl. You become more beautiful with time.  You don’t see how lovely you are, but everyone else does.  Your smile can light up a room and your laugh makes us all smile.  You love to take care of your hair now and wear any make-up you can get your hands on.  You take really, really, long showers and love to lay in bed for hours after you wake up in the morning.  You stay up late and almost always sleep in your sleeping bag on your bed.

Homeschooling was a little rough last year and somehow we are agreeing to try it again this year for seventh grade. Going to our middle school is not  a good option.  We are going to start you with a learning counselor this year and see if she can help you relax a little, gain some confidence and make some progress academically with math.  I hope she can help you.   You are very hard on yourself about your abilities in math.  You don’t understand why you can’t  instantly just know how to figure out a problem. It sends you into a panic and your self worth plummets more each time.  I wish you would not focus on the negative aspects of the life  you have, but see all the good that surrounds you and that is you.

We all love you so much. Your parents, your brothers, your grandparents, your pets are all on your side.  You are so creative and bright. You can whip up a story in no time. You are witty and funny and sarcastic. You have the most beautiful voice. I catch you singing and I just have to stand and listen secretly.  My eyes fill with tears to hear your gift. I’m trying to find a voice teacher for you this year and I hope that is a successful experience for you.  I know you can do it.  I want you to hear someone else tell you that you have a talent, maybe then you will believe it more.

You love to read at night and you love Minecraft.  You have invented characters and a whole story line about “Steve and Madeline” and they are now part of our daily life.  Every one who comes in contact with you knows about them too. You are creative and funny. Such a great story teller.  I still think you would be a terrific actress, but you say no way to that idea.  You still really love to hear any story about drama, aliens, ghosts, or someone wronging another.  You get so worked up and hyper.  It’s instant energy to you.  We have no idea where any of that comes from. You also still love to be out in nature (if the temperature is just right and you are prepared and dressed appropriately).  Standing by the ocean calms you down, walking in the woods lights you up too.  You do not like to be hot or uncomfortable in any way though, so we have to take advantage of all the good weather days around here. Oh my Keely. You just feel all the feelings.

Your best friends right now are Isis and Danielle, sometimes you hang out with our neighbor- Kayla. You call them often and talk forever on the phone.  You go to their house or they come over here to hang out.  Sometimes you go to a sleepover.  I’m glad you have a few close friends.  You just got your first real phone  and you are glued to it so far. You have been texting  non-stop for two days already.

Happy 12th birthday Keely.  You are always my baby and I am always on your side.  I love you Kinder.

Lucas at 4 1/2

My sweet, funny, loud, baby Lucas you are 4 1/2 now.  You were always such a small little guy and then a couple of months ago, you just kept growing over night.  We’d wake up in the morning and you would just look bigger and older.  You’d run over to our dining room door to see if you were taller than your last growth mark, and we’d be amazed to see that you actually had grown.  This happened for a few days and was very strange.  The other day you ran over to the door and said, “Let’s see if I’m all grown-up today!”  Oh, Lucas.  Don’t grow up just yet.  You’re my last little baby. My last four year old.

You are still the funniest little man.  You always make us laugh. You say such grown-up things sometimes and your expressions are so cute. You love your siblings and always try to do what they are doing. Your feelings get very hurt when they don’t want you around.  You scream and cry. You throw yourself on the floor.  You run to tell us about the mean thing they said or did.  You also do all of that when we answer a request of yours with a “no”.  You just do not accept not having or getting what you want.  You will scream for so long about not getting another snack or someone not wanting to play with you.  Eventually, you will calm down enough and then tell me something like, “I would stop crying if I had some ice cream.”  You being completely serious.  I have to just give you a hug and try not to laugh.  Other times you will say something on your body hurts and that you think having some cookies or candy will make it feel better.  This never works, but you do try.

You ask a lot of questions about the world now and how things work.  You always ask very thoughtfully and listen to our answers. You are a smart guy. You are building your own neat inventions with Lego’s now and you watch Milo build with great interest.  You love to color and draw and write.  You make us awesome pictures all the time.  You always hold them behind your back and tell us to guess 5 things that we think you drew. Then you will show us your work.  You love for me to set you up with jobs or projects.  You also help me with any grown-up job I’m doing if you are around. You will try to mop, sweep, rake, feed the animals, put away dishes.  You do these roles  with great pride.

You are very gentle and sweet if anyone is not feeling well.  You will run to get them a glass of water or cover them with a blanket and pat there arm or back.  At dinner, you always reach over and rub my arm and smile at me for no reason.  You tell me a million times a day, “I love you too, mommy.”  I get lots of hugs and kisses from you. You love to cuddle with me and you still wrap your fingers in my hair and twist them around when your tired.  I still try to breath in your baby smell that is only slightly still there.  You often wake up very early in the morning, right after I get up and you run downstairs to find me.  I lay with you on the couch in the dark until you fall back asleep and you are still there when everyone else wakes up a couple hours later.

lucas 4.5d

You like to watch and play Minecraft, just like Keely and Milo.  You don’t like t.v. or movies very much and you don’t really like music either.  You only occasionally sing nursery rhyme songs or your own made up jingles. You do love to play your little electric keyboard, xylophone, and recorder very loudly around the house. You also love to build things with blocks and drive matchbox cars around. I love listening to your story lines when you are playing alone.  I wish I could secretly record them for you.

You love for daddy or me to play with you in your room. You ask us every night if we are going to play with you in the morning after we get up.  You then ask a hundred times in the morning when we are going to play.  Sometimes you go and set up something to play and then follow us around telling us it is all ready now. You are persistent.  We all love you so much Lucas and are so happy that we get to spend our days with you. Happy 4 1/2 my Lookah Bear.

Milo at 7 1/2

You are on your way to being 8 already.  You still like to cuddle and sit with me a lot, so I hope you continue that.  You don’t try to act grown-up yet either. You are very much a little boy.  You love to play Legos still and you continue to be obsessed with playing Minecraft and watching Stampy Longhead videos about Minecraft.  You spent a good amount of time playing with Lucas too, though.  You will play with his stuff in his room and sometimes you will let him into your room.  You try to take care of him and include him in your games.  He does get on your nerves though and you get very frustrated often.  You have to run and go be alone in your own space for awhile to calm down. Keely and you get along most of the time and make each other laugh a lot.

We finished up first grade this year and you did great. You like history, science, sometimes math, and you did not like writing one tiny bit.  You can not stand to write anything. You love for me to read to you also.  We read for school and I also read The Magic Treehouse books with you every night.  You read on your own before you go to sleep, too. Maps are your thing lately.  You have a giant map of Virginia over your bed and you study it each day and try to find new towns and cities.  You like to find all the old houses we’ve taken trips to.  You think Virginia is pretty cool.  “You can drive to the mountains and to the Bay and to the ocean in one day.”  You like to play on Google maps too and explore the whole world.

You stay up almost to 10 o’clock reading at night and then sleep in to about 8 in the morning. You like to sit with me and have a cup of hot chocolate in the morning.  Once the rest of the house is awake you go off and entertain yourself or play with Lucas unless we have other plans.  You like it when we go to the zoo, aquarium, beach, or to check out someplace new.  You are usually up for it.  You don’t like to go to stores any more though. They are boring.

You have taken a few classes at our homeschool co-op and have done great with them.  You are always happy to go and eager to learn. You even have a friend there now.  I hope you can stay friends with him since there aren’t any little boys in our neighborhood for you to pal around with.  You don’t seem to mind though.milo73

You like to build things, see how things work, and figure out how to do things.  Your little mind loves that stuff.  You’re a pretty sharp guy, Milo. I always wonder about what you will be when you grow up.

You like snakes and all furry animals.  You adore Midnight and always bring him into bed with you at night. He happily stays right next to you for a few hours.  Many times throughout the day you will curl up next to him and pet him for awhile.  You are sweet and gentle.

You are still pretty short for your age and most people assume you are younger than you because of it.  You have more freckles now and look a little more like a big kid. I always cut your hair myself, but I’m guessing soon I’m going to have to find a new technique or take you someplace because I don’t think the little kid cut is going to work much longer.

I love you so much Milo.  You are so smart and sweet.  You make your momma proud Miggity.

Lucas at 4

Lucas, you are now four!  You told me you were still my little baby though.  You also keep asking how many birthdays you will have and if you keep getting bigger all the time and not littler. You don’t look like you are four, so I’ll pretend you’re much younger for awhile.

 lucas 4a

You are the funniest little man around.  You crack us all up with the funny things you say and do.  Even when you are mad, you are still funny. We try to contain our laughter at those moments though. You call yourself, “Pookah Bear” and I usually call you, “Bear” now.  You tell me that I am your baby all the time. You still twist my hair at every opportunity too.  You will pet my head and tell me that you are taking care of me. It is so sweet.  You also have a doll in your room that you cook for and carry around and gently tuck into blankets. It melts me. You can be so tender.  Whenever you are not feeling happy or you get injured, you cry and tell us that your feelings are hurt.  “I can’t walk because my feelings are hurt.”  You yell at us if we leave you at a table eating anything alone.  “I don’t wanna be awe awone!”  You do not like if anyone gives you a mad face. You whine and tell us that you don’t like when we make those mad faces at you.  You only like happy faces.

You always greet me by running into me with big, open arms and yelling, “Mama!” You never call me that at any  other moment.  I’m mommy for the rest of the time.  You love for me to play with you and insist on a long play session every day.  We have to play with your wooden house, “dad” game, kitty game, and kitchen game.  They are all your choosing and made up by you.  You love to draw and color.  You always have paper and pencils at the ready.  You draw lots of cats and houses.  During our school time, I have to print you off many coloring pages related to whatever topic we are on so that you can have your jobs to work on.  You can write your name and Milo and cat right now, too.   You want to do school work when I work with Keely and Milo, so I always have something ready for you to work with me on and some things for you to do alone.  You like to paint and do lots of art projects and you are still practicing with “schissors”.

You love playing with cars, trucks, Lego’s, and Playmobil right now. You also like a little bit of time to play a game on my phone or watch Keely and Milo play Minecraft. You are often found curled up with books next to a heater vent too.

Naps are no more for you.  You wake up around 7 am and cuddle with me downstairs and are on the go for most of the day. You spend the hours running, playing, and talking constantly. You crash out by 9 pm.  You are still a picky eater, just like your siblings were.  Your diet is not varied at all.   You would eat some kind of noodle for every meal, every day, if we let you.  You like us to go out places still. You want us to drive somewhere and do something and when we are done, you ask us to go “just one more place.”  You really like to go to Target now and walk down the “noisy toy truck” aisle, so that you can press every sound making button.

Your expressions and mannerisms seem like they belong to someone much older than you.  You are a riot with your raised eyebrows and head nods and your, “whelps,” and hands in the air telling us about how that’s just the way something is. You also are super cute when you are happy. You get so excited by snack time or a special event.  You squeal and clap your hands and jump around.  This is the first year that you were really into Christmas, Valentine’s and your birthday.  You were so thrilled with it all.  Lucky us who get to be around you Lucas.  You make us all smile and I just want to hug you all the time and breathe in that little bit of lingering warm baby smell  you still have.  Lucas, don’t get to five too fast my little Bear.  I’d be lost without you. Happy Birthday my baby boy.

Milo @ 7

Milo you have reached 7 years old this week. You are growing quickly and changing from a little boy to a big guy.  You are still a bit short for your age though, so I’ll pretend you are much younger.

Your love of Lego’s have returned and now Minecraft is a tad in the backseat.  You analyze ever page in your Lego catalogs.  You use them so much the pages are falling out and are all so worn and soft. You always have one nearby you.  You love to watch other people’s reviews of Lego sets that you are interested in on YouTube. You beg to do that every day.  For any holiday, all you ask for is Lego’s-not one other thing is on your list.  You know what you like.  You do not like people to mix your sets up and you don’t really like people to play with them.  Keely has been playing with you some lately.  You give Lucas his own handful of bricks to keep him entertained and mostly out of your prized sets.

We are homeschooling again this year for first grade.  You are almost done with the public school’s curriculum for this year, but we are mostly using are own.  You love for me to read to you and you can read and decode words really well.  You impress me with you number skills too. You can just figure out things before I even finish explaining a way to complete a problem. Yay! to that!  You like learning about space too.  We even went to watch the launch of a rocket and to see the International Space Station flyby a couple months ago.  Unfortunately, the rocket exploded but the experience was still pretty neat.  You also made models of the rocket with Lego’s.  Writing is still not your thing.  You want to spell everything perfectly and if you can’t, then you don’t want to write at all. You are taking your first co-op class this semester.  You like it a lot and you look forward to it each week.  We are trying to get you interested in taking up an instrument or trying out a sport this spring.  You still aren’t that interested in playing with other kids.  You are happy to be with your siblings and mostly be at home.  You tell me that you will never, ever, ever, go to public school.

milo 7 c

You still adore our pets and always want them with you.  Keely and you fight over who gets to hold the cats or whose room the cats will lay in.  Since Keely is home this year, you are spending more time playing with her and less time with Lucas. He makes you really mad because he doesn’t play with your things the way you want him to.  He, of course, thinks you are the greatest thing and wants to be with you and do whatever you do.  Keely and you are much closer this year and get along about half of the time.  You do yell at any sibling who enters your room. That is sacred ground and the Lego’s must be protected.

milo7 b

You are still very sweet and love to be cuddled, especially at night. Each night I lay with you for a little bit.  I have to tell you a story about putting each of your body parts to sleep and then I have to “give” you a dream to think about while you fall asleep. You like your routines. You are good about helping out and cleaning up after yourself. You even clean up after Lucas. You don’t like dishes or toys to be laying around out of place.  You do like your Lego’s to be all over every table surface of the house though!  You also don’t like wasting things.  If there if food left on your plate you want someone else to eat it.  If there is a broken toy piece, you don’t want it thrown away. “We can use it for something else! Don’t throw that away, mommy!” Your temper is still there too.  You get so angry, so quickly.  You yell, growl, storm off, say mean things, make the maddest faces, and slam doors.  You usually get over it quickly and apologize. You tell me that you just can’t help it and that when you get so mad you just have to let the madness out in mean words.

milo7 a

Your food choices are still limited, but you just started trying new foods on your own-finally!  You even admitted that you are kind of bored eating the same kinds of things. I almost fell over when you voluntarily at some green beans! I hope seven is the year of varied food choices for you.  A new development this year is that you don’t like me to take your picture anymore. You used to always jump in front of my camera, but now you get annoyed and make a face or run away. I guess that means fewer pictures from now on.

You requested a Minecraft birthday this year and were so excited about your cake and presents. You counted down the days until your birthday for the whole month and you screamed with happiness over your gifts.  You are good at being excited and fun to give gifts too, that’s for sure.

Happy seven years my miggity-moo.  I couldn’t love you more!

Lucas at 3 1/2 years

Lucas you are now 3 1/2 years old. You are a fireball-a very cute, smart, loud, fireball.  Every time I look at you, I just can’t believe how cute you are-even when you are being a screaming monster.  You are pretty short and just a small guy all around.  You have the funniest expressions and mannerisms.  You have us laughing everyday with the things you say.   We all go around repeating your little sayings often.

You tell me you are still a baby when you want to do “baby-ish” things, but when you want to do things that the other kids are doing then you tell me how big you are.  You will stand up tall and say, “LOOK! SEE, I am big now!” with a big approving smile.  You like to be held like a baby a lot. That means wrapped in a blanket and scooped up in a almost swaddle.  You like to hold our hands when walk someplace outside.  You love pushing the stroller around our neighborhood like a madman, but do not really ever want to ride in it. Walking around our neighborhood is one of your favorite things to do lately. You ask to take a walk everyday.  Finally, late in the summer, you tried getting fully into the big pool and you just loved it.  You never stopped smiling.  You started doing the funniest little swimming move too.  You stuck your legs out behind you and pumped your tush up and down and told us all you knew how to swim now.

You love being part of your siblings games and activities.  You try to be like them most of the time until you’ve had enough and then you go off and do your own things with your toys and you don’t want anyone to bother you.  You are good at playing alone.  I love to listen to the stories you tell while you play with your cars and animals.  You use some cute voices for them.  You mostly play with your big wooden blocks and matchbox cars.  Sometimes trains and Duplos are brought out, but you love building roads and cities for your cars to drive though.  When you want to be with Keely and Milo you ask us, “Where are guys at?”  “I can’t find my guys!”  If I go somewhere alone while you are napping, when I come home you run to me and tell me that, “I lost you! I was crying for you all the time because I just lost you.”  Poor little guy.

You sing a lot too.  Loudly and often to yourself.  You have a few favorite songs. You love “Summertime” by Lana Del Rey and sing it all the time.  You won’t let us listen to any slow music. You yell, “NOOOOO!” and tell us it is too sad or too bad.  Your favorite color is red.  You love to play with your card sets and ask us to play all the time. You are a picky eater.  Your top picks are: bananas, pears, yogurt, cereal, noodles, buttered bread, and pizza.  You like the t.v. series “Edwardian Farm”, but you call it, “Running Farm.”  You love animals, especially dogs, cats, horses, and happy bunnies.

You love to help us when we need it.  You help me outside raking and watering the plants.  You like to put things away for us and to help sweep.  You like your bed to be made in the morning and your room’s floor to not be messy.  You do leave your various creations built on every table top downstairs though and I get in so much trouble when I finally clean one of them up.  So much crying.  Lucas you are also still our screamer.  When someone makes you mad or hurts your feelings you screech the loudest screech.  I think it sounds like a Pterodactyl call.  You tell us you are yelling, “cuz I mad! and _____ is not my friend! They are a meanie head…and I mad because I am!”

You want us to go somewhere everyday. You like for all of us to go together, but you will still go out with me if no one else wants to come.  You are pretty good on outings now. You enjoy helping find things and walking/running through the aisles.  You like us to walk on the beach and take trips too. You don’t like being in the car for hours though. You enjoy the destination, not the journey.

Happy 3 1/2 Pookah-bear.  Your mommy couldn’t love you any more.

Milo @ 6 1/2

Milo at 6 1/2 you are still very much my little boy.  You are still loveable and love to snuggle. You especially require some love before bedtime and when you wake up. You are still small and certainly do not look like you are 6 1/2. You take after your daddy in that way. You also look just like him as child.

Currently, you are very much into playing Minecraft. Lego’s have taken the backseat lately.  You play with Lucas for most of the morning in some sort of invented game with cars and Lego’s. Then you guys make up some crazy, run away / chase or catch each other event through the house or in the backyard.  Before lunch you are done with each other and fighting usually.  We eat our lunch together and then Lucas takes his nap. We do the majority of our homeschool work during nap time, so that we aren’t interrupted.  You can read so good now.  I am constantly impressed by how many advanced words you already now.  You are great at math too.  You just pick it up very easily.  Writing, though, you can not stand.  It is  torture to you.  You’ve done great for kindergarten though and we are done for the year now.   At this point, I think we are going to stick with homeschooling for next year too.

You are usually very helpful and thoughtful. You really love to help with food preparations. You come running if you hear me getting out the cutting boards.  If I drop something, you will pick it up without being asked.  You usually clean up after yourself too. You help Lucas if he needs help with something (unless you are mad at the time).  You still have your temper though and can quickly change from sweetheart to frowny brow and clinched fists.  You really get mad at things you think are unfair .  If Keely gets to do or have something you don’t, you will go on and on about it forever-sometimes for days!  You fight a lot with Keely.  You get hurt a lot too, emotionally and physically.  You can be so pitiful sometimes.  I have to wrap you up and just love on you until it passes.

You love your animals and if you are not up and playing- you always want an animal next to  you.  You cuddle and love on them so much.  You are always worried about their well being.  They all love you in return.  They know you have a tender heart.DSC_1154

You love to know how and why things work.  Right now, you are all about airplanes and road rules.  You have so many questions.  I try to answer them all, but I’m often stumped. We have to turn to the internet for answers. You love to go to the airport and watch the planes take-off and land.  It is kind of funny because we have at least 20 planes a day flying low over our own back yard.  They are military planes though, so I guess that’s different.

You just got  your very first loose tooth.  Oddly, you aren’t in the least bit interested in it!  You didn’t even notice it before I did.  You never wiggle it or anything. You were happy to know that you will get some money when it falls out.

You like being with your family still and are just not interested in being with other kids at all.  You won’t even go to the park if it’s crowded.  You’d rather just play with your siblings.  You like for us to go to outdoor/nature walks though. You like to learn about plants and animals and love finding things that you know the names of.

DSC_1182You are an awesome little boy who I am proud to call my son.  You are so funny, smart, gentle, and loving. What more could any mom want?   I love you Moo-Moo.
